A Message from Gemma

I mostly make stained glass for the glamour.. but also because I love every stage of designing and making beautiful, original art from glass! Sending off art I have made with my own two hands around the world is a great honour, and something I will never tire of.

I'm thrilled to welcome you to my shop. I hope you love what I make as much as I do!

Why Stained Glass?

Living with stained glass affects more than just how your home looks. Looking at light of different colours can actually affect our brain chemistry. There's a reason stained glass has been used in places of spirituality for many centuries! Looking at light streaming through orange and green glass in particular, sets my brain buzzing in a very soothing way. These colours make me feel calm and creative, so I often select these colours to work with, and also to live with. My studio is bathed in beautiful orange and green sunbeams from suncatchers at my window, which I genuinely feel helps me to keep calmly productive.

Whilst you browse my collections, consider both how you would like a piece to look in situ, and how you and your loved ones would like to feel in that space. Bring beauty to your living space and think about selecting colours that give your brain a happy tickle every day too.

Why Sass and Flux?

All of my work is original, designed and made in my garden studio in Staffordshire, England. I'm inspired by all manner of things, and you'll see this in the rather eclectic nature of my collections. Nature, film, music and 1990s pop culture are recurring themes, but my bouncy brain goes where it pleases, and I enjoy the meanders. I hope you will too.

No two pieces of Sass and Flux stained glass are ever identical. As if the vast array of colours aren’t thrilling enough, I love to incorporate glasses of varying textures and often intricately paint the surfaces to add detail and interest at different light levels. Imperfections in rolled and hand blown glass add even more interest and beauty to a piece, ensuring uniqueness.

I'm serious about my craft, and meticulous in ensuring all of my work is of the highest quality.
