If you aspire to be a little more Wednesday Addams (and why wouldn't you?), this 'kooky' (actually she prefers 'spooky'!) but seriously beautiful stained glass mirror is a must for your haunted mansion. Made in the 'Tiffany' copper foil tradition, the face is life-size to ensure that when you look in the mirror, you'll see yourself adorned with Wednesday's iconic parting and plaits/braids. This will help you adjust your attitude, ensuring you cause maximum mayhem every time you leave the house.
This original Sass and Flux design is unmistakably inspired by Christina Ricci's beloved performance as Wednesday in The Addams Family movies from the 1990s. Though we loved the new series too! This is currently a made to order item so please allow up to four weeks for completion before dispatch.
Wednesday's hair is made with opaque black Oceanside glass, and each plait/braid is made up of 12 tiny individually hand-cut pieces. Her 'antique white' collar is made from opaque Ivory Oceanside glass and the space between her braids and her neck (to add both stability and flair to the design) is made from beautiful Firelight White Opal Rainbow Glass, which shimmers in purples, blues, yellows and greens as it catches the light.
Wednesday's face, neck and earlobes are made from genuine haunted mirror (..well OK, it's definitely vintage and *may* be haunted too, who can say?) which shows delightful imperfections from age. The artist has cut the mirror to include these delicate age spots at the temples, on the neck and on the earlobes, so they add to the 'feel' of the piece without obscuring your reflection. The age spots have been accentuated with gold and silver Vitrea glass paint.
Each individual piece of glass is hand cut, ground, wrapped with copper foil and soldered by the artist in the 'Tiffany' tradition. Lead 'hobby came' is then added to the entire surround, to give a sleek look, and added strength. A black patina is applied to the solder, because Wednesday wouldn't want it any other way, and because it really makes the colours 'pop'. Finally, a strong chain has been attached with jump rings to the back, to ensure the mirror is easy to hang securely.
So why not welcome Wednesday into your home, and she'll gladly help you check you're not looking too perky before leaving the house every morning... in exchange for your immortal soul, of course.
Always wash your hands after handling stained glass.
