This beautiful hand crafted stained glass suncatcher/window panel is inspired by the Weyland-Yutani Wings insignia worn by crew members aboard the USCSS Nostromo star freighter in Alien, and throughout the Alien/Aliens film franchise. Made in the 'Tiffany' tradition this stained glass artwork will make a special and unique gift for any sci-fi fan. An object of beauty in its own right, with a deeper meaning that true film buffs will be immediately able to place. Whether all in the household are fans of the films or not, everyone will appreciate the sleek beauty of this stained glass artwork, and enjoy the gentle golden sunbeams it casts when it catches the light.
The artist has selected characterful and stunningly beautiful Wissmach Medium Amber Seville glass. The 'gold' hues reflect thread used for insignia worn by Captains within the Weylan-Yutani corporation. Due to the hand manufacture process of this very special glass, ripples, 'hammer marks' and bubbles are present in the glass, adding interest, depth and beauty.
Each individual piece of glass is accurately hand-cut, the edges ground smooth and wrapped with copper foil, and then skilfully soldered by the artist in the 'Tiffany' tradition. Lead 'hobby came' is then added to the entire surround, to give a sleek look, and added strength. A black patina is applied to the solder which really makes the colour 'pop'.
The piece has three sturdy jump rings along the top edge. Three strong chains, in-keeping with the Nostromo's industrial aesthetic, ensure the piece is easy to hang securely.
